Taking inspiration from a trip to India and Uzbekistan earlier in 2023, I set myself a challenge to collect one piece of trash per day. Either an item I found or I created. These were used as a jumping off point for colour, shape and texture. Combining a mash up of culture and symbolic references, I built a figure based around an Indian 17th Century court painting. The pomegranate and tulip are the national fruit and flower of Uzbekistan and the peacock is the national bird of India.
